25th Oct 2017 | Sanderson Farms Championship

Sanderson Farms Championship: Denny McCarthy

One of the brightest talents to earn promotion from the Web.com, expect him to make an impact in his rookie season.

At the start of 2017, Denny McCarthy was a player I earmarked for a big year on the Web.com Tour and although consistent he lacked the big finish to propel himself into the top-25 of the money list. That mean the pressure was on during the Final Series but he rose to the occasion.

The 24-year-old went 31-9-17-12 to finish the season and earn his PGA Tour card, those joining fellow alumni of the class of 2011 which include Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth.

McCarthy is nowhere near that level yet but has the potential. He enjoyed a stellar amateur career, which included playing at the Walker Cup and in the 2015 US Open.

Much improved on the greens (second in putting average last season) he has the game for the PGA Tour, especially the Sanderson Farms Championship one of the weaker events on the schedule.
