Top Debutant: Patrick Reed
Was 6-0 in matchplay for Augusta State and has the right mentality for the Ryder Cup.
The Ryder Cup is a pressure-cooker environment especially for a debutant and personality more than golf is the key to success.
Patrick Reed isn’t short on confidence and he could surprise a few people at Gleneagles.
In his college days Reed lead Augusta State to back-to-back NCAA Championship titles, where he enjoyed a 6-0 matchplay record beating the likes of Peter Uihlein, Harris English and Brooks Koepka.
Victorious twice on tour this season, he has a winning mentality and is an excellent putter under pressure.
Hopefully Tom Watson recognises these attributes and gives him some game time because at 7/1 (Boylesports) he is an excellent bet to be the top debutant points scorer.
