Rex Hospital Open Tips: Roger Sloan

Rex Hospital Open Tips: Roger Sloan

Shot three rounds in the 60s on his last crack at the Rex Hospital Open in 2014 and arrives on the back of consecutive fifth placed finishes.

Watching Cody Gribble bogey the final two holes to lose the ULF Championship was galling having tipped him pre-tournament at 150/1. However spare a though for Roger Sloan’s backers after the Canadian double-bogeyed the final two holes!

Both could bounce back this week but of the pair I prefer Sloan’s chances. The Canadian is the more experienced player and already has a win under his belt - the 2014 Nova Scotia Open.

Sloan’s record at the Rex Hospital Open is an underwhelming MC-T54 but dig a little deeper and his 2014 performance was much better than the bare result. Well positioned after opening rounds of 69-68 it all fell apart on Saturday after he took a quintuple-bogey on the par-3 14th.  To his credit he bounced back with a final round 67 but one hole cost him a top-25 finish.

Sloan arrives in Raleigh on the back of consecutive top-5 finishes and having had time to recover form his nightmare finish, he could celebrate his birthday on Sunday with victory at 60/1 (BetVictor).
