Rex Hospital Open: Charlie Saxon
Took week off, hopefully in preparation for an event he played well in 2019; was in contention until a poor Sunday. Ignore last MC as got worst of draw; previously been in good form.
Charlie Saxon enjoyed a well earned rest last week but his form over the last couple of months has been great and the Rex Hospital Open is a tournament he should be targeting for the win.
Saxon finished T50 at TPC Wakefield Plantation in 2019 but it could have been so much better. A final round 76 saw him tumble down the leaderboard, when even a level-par final round would have seen him finish inside the top-25.
He returns a more experienced player and one whose last five tournaments have produced results of 11-31-47-10-MC. The latest missed cut coming after a horror second round 79, excusable because he had the worst of the draw and weather.
Currently 16th in the all-around ranking, Saxon is a player i’m a huge fan of and this looks an ideal test.
