RBC Heritage Tips: K J Choi

RBC Heritage Tips: K J Choi

Has done well to compete on some long courses this season; Harbour Town provides a more suitable challenge.

K J Choi has put in some terrific performances on unsuitable courses this season and therefore his chances deserve an upgrade when faced with a more appropriate challenge.

Choi did extremely well to finish second at Torrey Pines and T5 at Riviera both monstrously long courses. At those tournaments, he was hitting hybrids into firm greens (Riviera), whilst his opponents had the luxury of using irons.

The 45-year-old ranks 119th for driving distance but 18th for proximity to the hole. That is an amazing achievement considering he’s hitting longer clubs into most greens compared to his rivals.

At Harbour Town his lack of fire-power doesn’t come into the equation and instead his terrific approach play can give him an edge over the field.

Choi’s record in the RBC Heritage is 41-18-31-MC and he’s a good bet at 100/1 (Ladbrokes) given the quality of his golf this season.
