RBC Heritage Tip: Matthew Fitzpatrick

Course record is 23-MC-MC-14 and often talks about how much he likes the course. Good final three rounds at Augusta should give him confidence along with second place at Bay Hill.

Harbour Town and the RBC Heritage is by his own admissions one of his favourite events of the year and although that is sure to be factored into the price I still like Matthew Fitzpatrick at 33/1 with 8 places on offer with Paddy Power.

The Englishman recovered from a horrible opening 78 at the Masters to eventually finish T21 on 5-under meaning he played the final three rounds in 11-under. Equally encouraging was the fact he hit over 70% of GIRs over the weekend to suggest his ball-striking is where it needs to be for Harbour Town.

Fitzpatrick’s links to this event go back to 2014 when he finished T23, he missed the cut in 2016 and 2017 but bounced back to form with a T14 twelve months ago. The result came after a T38 at the Masters and nothing much great before it, whereas he has a runners-up finish from the Arnold Palmer Invitation to call upon for confidence.

From limited starts his tee-to-green game is where it needs to be (ranked 33rd in strokes gained) and a career strike rate of 5 wins from 147 starts makes him at worst a 30/1 chance but with the added bonus of course and general form in his favour.
