RBC Heritage Tip: Chris Kirk

Struggled last year but much improved in this season. Improved 93 places in adjusted scoring average with big gains tee-to-green. Has made 4 of last 5 cuts at Harbour Town.

Golf is a fickle game and 2017 wasn’t kind to Chris Kirk. In 27 starts he managed just one top-10 finish and that came in his last event of the calendar year, a T4 at the RSM Classic. At least that meant he went into the Christmas break with some good news and he’s carried that form into 2018.

This year he’s finished 10-MC-35-11-MC-33-49-13-MC and his improved play is born out by his performance statistics. Last season Kirk ranked 136th in adjusted scoring, this season he is up to 43rd.

The big improvement has come tee-to-green. Last year he ranked 129th in strokes gained and he is up to 33rd now. A four-time winner on tour, Kirk has a decent strike-rate at this level and Harbour Town should suit a player who is 22nd in strokes gained with approaches to the green.

He is 4/7 in cuts made but four of those have come in his last five visits. He is yet to crack the top-20 but is trending in the right direction and a good bet at 100/1 with BetVictor paying 6 places at 1/5 odds.
