Opportunity Knox

First start at Harbour Town but already gone close this season and the course will suit this straight hitter.

If I were to ask, who is the leading European in the FedEx Cup standings I doubt many would say Russell Knox.

The 28-year-old sits in 27th position having made the cut in 11/13 tournaments this season.

The young Scot followed a rather ‘American’ route to the top. He studied at Jacksonville University, progressed through the minor tours and then the Web.com tour before he made the big time.

Just because he’s isn’t a familiar European golfer doesn’t mean he should be ignored. Jonas Blixt proved at the Masters that there is talent beyond the big names.

Knox has gone close once this season, losing in a play-off at the Honda Classic and although this is his first start at Harbour Town the course should suit him.

He hits the ball straight and finds plenty of fairways and greens. Having been brought up in Inverness he shouldn’t be fazed by any wind and at 80/1 (Paddy Power) he looks a good each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
