Qatar Masters Tip: Andy Sullivan
Ranked fourth for GIRs in Oman (was favourite early into round 2) and has finished 6-17-16 in last three starts. Good record in Doha.
It lacks a bit of imagination picking Andy Sullivan for the second week in a row but I’m surprised he’s as big as 20/1. Last week in Oman he went off at 25/1 but was quickly into favourite (hit around 8/1 if memory serves) after an opening round of 67. It looked like he might run away with it after reaching 8-under early on Friday but he then went into reverse eventually finishing one shot worse off at -7 on Sunday for a share of 16th.
The Englishman ranked fourth in GIRs but hit a quiet patch with the putter and couldn’t haul himself back into contention. Still, it cements his good run of form that since the start of the year has produced finishes of 34-53-6-17-16.
With three top-30 finishes in four visits to Doha he also ticks the course form box and this proven winner is one of the more likely candidates to take the title.
