Puerto Rico Open: Tyler Duncan

Has shown glimpses of form on paspalum greens. 2/2 at Mayakoba and T3 at 2017 Corales. Registered best result of season on last start at Pebble Beach.

The big challenge for golfers this week will be adjusting to the seashore paspalum greens because it is a grass touring professionals don’t encounter all that often. Whilst hunting for potential paspalum ‘specialists’ the name of Tyler Duncan jumped out.

He finished T3 at the 2017 Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship, played on the Web.com Tour, and most importantly on paspalum greens. Unfortunately he missed the cut when the event was promoted to the PGA Tour last season but he is 2/2 at Mayakoba with finishes of T50-T38.

The 29-year-old hasn’t been pulling up any trees on the PGA Tour this season but he did record a season’s best T22 at Pebble Beach on his last start, where he ranked T8 for GIRs.

Nate Lashley a three-time winner on the LatinoAmerica Tour also went well at the 2017 Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship and came under close consideration but in these types of events it’s worth rolling the dice - hence the selection of Tyler Duncan.
