Puerto Rico Open: Trey Mullinax
Has a similar game to last year’s champions Tony Finau; long off the tee and good results at same Web.com Tour events.
I’m not entirely convinced the Coco Beach Golf & Country Club will suit Trey Mullinax but I came to same conclusion about big hitting Tony Finau and he managed to win around here.
In fact, the similarities don’t end there. Both players enjoyed good results on the same courses on the Web.com Tour. Mullinax won the United Leasing Championship (Finau finished T4) whilst they both recorded top-10 finishes at the Utah Championship.
I’d like Mullinax to have played better at Mayakoba but he missed the cut on 1-under so it wasn’t exactly a hideous performance.
Despite missed cuts at the Honda and Valspar, Mullinax is still 69th in the all-around ranking and this is a more suitable course against a weaker field. At 125/1 (Sky Bet) he is worth the risk.
