Portugal Masters Tips: Danny Willett

Finished T6 twice in four visits and even last year’s T63 was much better than it appeared.

Danny Willett is near the top of any statistic your care to mention on the European Tour and a win must be around the corner.

The 27-year-old is in the top-20 on tour for stroke average, driving distance, GIRs and putts per GIR.

In addition to his first-class play, Willett has a good record at the Oceanico Victoria Golf Course with two sixth place finishes in just four attempts.

Last year he finished a disappointing T63 but it could have been so much better even before he fell 40 places on Sunday. Willett led the field in driving accuracy, ranked 11th in GIRs but only 62nd in putts per GIR.

Tee-to-green he plays the course as well as anyone; if the putter heats up he can go close at 33/1 (Paddy Power).
