Portland Open: TJ Vogel
Playing consistently well and fourth in the tour's all-around ranking. Finished T65-T13 in two previous visits to Pumpkin Ridge and was in contention at halfway stage in 2015.
TJ Vogel was the Monday qualifier king on the PGA Tour last season but he’s got a couple of routes to a more permanent position on the PGA Tour. Sat 51st in the points standings, Vogel almost certainly needs a win this week to crack the top-25 but he’s well capable.
In his last five starts he’s finished 29-14-27-32-11 and is now fourth in the tour’s all-around ranking. There are no obvious weaknesses in his game which is good news because Pumpkin Ridge GC can catch people out. In two previous visits Vogel has finished T65-T13 and on his last visit in 2015 he was in contention at the half-way stage before a poor 74 on Saturday dropped him back into the pack.
He returns are more experienced and better player and as he showed in Monday qualifiers last season he can deliver a performance when needed.
