Phoenix Open Tip: Tyrone Van Aswegen

Phoenix Open Tip: Tyrone Van Aswegen

Kevin Stadler broke his duck at this event and although big the leap isn't impossible for the consistent Van Aswegen.

Backing a player who is still searching for his first professional win in 270 starts might seem like a terrible idea on paper (and it probably is!) but Kevin Stadler did the business for us in 2014 with an improbable win and i’m rolling the dice again.

Tyrone Van Aswegen missed the cut at Torrey Pines last week but otherwise he’s enjoyed a really consistent run on the PGA Tour. The South African has only missed 6 cuts in his last 20 starts and although he’s only registered one top-10 that came at the start of the season at the Safeway Open.

Currently ranked 45th in adjusted scoring average, he’s had a good start to the season and is 2/2 in cuts made at TPC Scottsdale. In 2016 he finished T17 and although he needs to improve again at 400/1 (Bet365) he is worth a small wager.
