Phoenix Open Tip: Trey Mullinax

Still hits it a mile but good things were happening throughout his bag at Torrey Pines. Ranked in top-10 for approaches, GIRs and scrambling. Starting to string some good results together.

Frustratingly the price collapsed as I was writing this last night but we can still settle for a 150/1 winner. Yes, it is Trey Mullinax time.

After a rocky patch i’ve taken him back; he promised this time it would be different. And at Torrey Pines it was. Mullinax finished an impressive T25 amongst strong company but the it wasn’t just his massive driving that caught the eye.

On the South Course, Mullinax ranked second in strokes gained tee-to-green, fourth in GIRs and seventh in scrambling. May facets of his game we working well and its four cuts made in a row for the big hitting Alabaman.

This is his first look at TPC Scottsdale but there is no reason why he shouldn’t take to it. The one thing stopping him from contending is the putter and if he can heat it up slightly we should get a run for our money.

Paddy Power are paying 8 places at 1/5 odds.
