Phoenix Open: Corey Conners

Ball-striking on song and consistently inside top-25. Nice T37 at Torrey Pines on a course that doesn't play to his strengths. That was first start of 2021 and should come on for the run.

Corey Conners has been playing consistently well for a couple of months now and looks ready to win again on the PGA Tour. His last five starts have produced finishes of 24-10-10-17-37 and I was encouraged by his run at Torrey Pines because you need to be long rather than accurate off the tee and Conners is the opposite of that.

Last year, Conners finished T45 on his first visit to TPC Scottsdale but his poor putting suppressed any chances of a high finish. That is still his weakness but his ball-striking is so good he doesn’t have to find much on the greens to summersault up the leaderboard.
