Chappell Club
Practises at Scottsdale during the winter and his ball-striking is perfectly suited to the course.
Many people are put off Kevin Chappell because he is a serial non-winner. He is yet to score in 117 starts on the PGA Tour but the same was said about Kevin Stadler and he managed to fall over the line last year.
Chappell should be a big star on tour because he has all the tools. He hits it long, straight and can score.
Last season he ranked 11th for ball-striking and 8th in the Tour’s all-around ranking, his one main weakness is on the greens.
If he is to win anywhere, TPC Scottsdale must be high on the list. Along with numerous other tour pros, Scottsdale is Chappell’s home during the winter.
The greens aren’t particularly difficult to read, therefore his deficiencies with the flat stick shouldn’t be exposed.
He finished T24 in 2013 and can go well at 125/1 (Coral) with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
