Panama Claro Tips: Denny McCarthy
Was closing in on the leader before the late weather delay in Colombia. Should be in the mix again.
With three holes to go it was all looking good for Denny McCarthy, only two off the clubhouse lead with a short par-4 and par-5 to come, a late run for victory was on the cards. Unfortunately, the final groups were forced off due to bad weather and on resumption McCarthy finished par-double bogey-bogey.
The weather delay came at precisely the wrong time and McCarthy eventually finished T12, blowing a place payout too. There is an element of chasing losses backing him again this week but the bookmakers haven’t exactly overreacted at 80/1 (SkyBet).
The 23-year-old is a terrific driver of the ball, which is what you need on this testing par-70 course. A T56 last year means he’s already had four looks at the course and he is long overdue a change of luck.
