Panama Claro Tips: A.J. McInerney

Struggled in second half of 2017 but found form of late. Finished T10 at the Shriners Open and won the Panama Championship Open Qualifier.

Twelve months ago I tipped A.J. McInerney for the Panama Claro Championship and after two opening rounds of 67 he gave us some hope. Unfortunately he faded over the weekend and finished T38 but i’m giving him another go.

The way McInerney started 2017 I thought he was a live contender for promotion to the PGA Tour but it rather fell apart in the second half of the year. The 24-year-old has only made 3 of his last 13 cuts but there have been some bright spots, especially the T10 at the Shriners Open on the PGA Tour.

That result gave me hope that he could recapture the form that so impressed me at the start of 2017 and he built on that result by winning the Panama Championship Open Qualifier. There is still time for this young talented golfer and perhaps this is his year.
