Italian Open Tips: Oliver Wilson

Italian Open Tips: Oliver Wilson

Struggled in the early part of the season but has found form of late shooting a couple of 65s in recent weeks.

Oliver Wilson’s win at the 2014 Dunhill Links Championship was one of the highlights of the season, as the former Ryder Cup star came back from the doldrums to secure his first tour win.

That victory was long overdue but almost immediately he disappeared from our screens, with 2015 being a year to forget as he missed 19/25 cuts.

The Englishman started 2016 in a similar vein, making only three cuts in his first 16 starts but everything has changed since July. A T58 at the Open de France seemed to generate some confidence and since then has finished 58-57-75-25-58-MC in stroke play events.

That might still look underwhelming on paper but there have been some good rounds of late with 65s at the KLM Open and the Made In Denmark.

Wilson’s problem has stemmed from his driver but GC Milano wasn’t punishing off the tee last year and that releases the pressure. At 500/1 (Stan James) he isn’t a lost cause with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
