Open de France Tips: Shane Lowry
Failed to capitalise on an excellent opportunity at Wentworth but ball-striking is there just needs to hole a few putts.
Shane Lowry blew an excellent opportunity at the BMW PGA Championship last month but it was great to see the Irishman back in contention and it signalled his return to the big time.
His T6 at Wentworth was his first top-10 since the US Open last year and it seems he’s finally got over the heartache of Oakmont. In truth he’s been playing well for a while without the results to show. Ranked 34th in strokes gained tee-to-green on the PGA Tour the ball striking has been there, it’s just been hampered by inconsistent putting.
A winner of his national Open and a WGC, this is a player who can deliver on the biggest stage. Blessed with a wonderful short game, Lowry isn’t fazed by a tough course and Le Golf National could be ideal. On his last visit in 2012 he finished T17 and now he returns a much better player.
Back Lowry with Sky Bet at 28/1 and get 6 places at 1/4 odds.
