Open de France Tips: Gregory Bourdy

Ranked seventh for GIRs and the tougher the better. Won at Celtic Manor last year - another difficult course.

French golf is enjoying a renaissance at the moment with several talented young players coming through the ranks. They all have the extra incentive to do well in their home championship but inexperience might count against them.

Gregory Bourdy seems like a veteran in comparison but at 32 he is entering his golfing prime.

This will be the tenth time he’s contested the Open de France and he looks capable of improving his sixth place finish from 2010.

Bourdy’s strength is tee to green, he ranks 7th for GIRs and relishes a tough course. Last year he won the Wales Open on 8-under and a similar score should get the job done in Paris this week.

The Frenchman warmed up with a T8 a fortnight ago at the Irish Open and is primed to go well at 50/1 (Paddy Power).
