Open De France Tip: Jordan Smith

Leads the European Tour for GIRs and his tee-to-green excellence is ideal for Le Golf National. Starting to hit form in the last month and has two top-30 finishes in this event.

The Open De France has produced some high quality winners in recent renewals and the stiff test provided by Le Golf National helps the cream rise to the top. One of the tougher courses on the European Tour, accuracy is valued more highly than usual and it’s normally elite ball-strikers (Noren, Fleetwood, Wiesberger) who take the title or regularly go close in Francesco Molinari’s case!

After a mid-summer blip, Jordan Smith is starting to return to the form he showed earlier in the year. On his last three starts he’s finished T24-T5-24 and last week in Rome he ranked seventh for GIRs, a statistic he actually leads the European Tour in this season.

One of the best tee-to-green on the tour he looks ready to win again. His record at Le Golf National is 30-21 and in an event that lacks strength in depth he rates a good bet.
