French Open Tips: Michael Hoey
Ranked sixth for GIRs in Sweden and Austria and playing better than the bare results.
Michael Hoey disappointed last week when we tipped him for the BMW International but generally his play has been on an upwards curve and hopefully he can repcature the form he showed in Sweden and Austria.
Hoey hit 73.6% of GIRs (ranked sixth) at the Nordea Masters and backed it up with 76.4% of GIRs (ranked sixth) at the Lyonness Open. Unforuantely he wasn’t able to convert the opportunties on the greens but at least his ball-striking was good.
It’s been largely a season to forget for the Northern Irishman but he knows how to win tournaments and finished T45 last year and seventh in 2014.
The links-style course suits his style of play and at 400/1 (Stan James) he is one of the better outsiders with 1/4 odds for a top-6 finish.
