French Open Tips: Jaco Van Zyl

French Open Tips: Jaco Van Zyl

Led going into final round last year and although he struggles to win, game is well suited to Le Golf National

Le Golf National might not be playing firm and fast like previous years but there is still a premium on putting the ball in the fairway. Jaco Van Zyl might not be particularly long but has the ideal skill set for the French Open.

Last year the South African couldn’t convert his final round lead into a win but still finished a highly respectable third. His third round 64, where he hit 18/18 greens was arguably one of the best rounds of the year on the European Tour.

It might be a tall order to recreate the magic but anything close will put him in contention. Fortunately Van Zyl arrives in decent form with finishes of 12-23-7-MC-38 in his last five starts, the missed cut coming at the US Open.

A lack of a European Tour win is the obvious concern but at 70/1 (Sportingbet) we can still make a good profit with a top-6 finish.
