Hang In There With Chad

Chad Campbell's last win came in 2007 but has found form in the last six months and excels in the wind.

Over the years the OHL Classic (formerly Mayakoba) has suited those best described as ‘veteran ball-strikers’ and Chad Campbell fits the mould.

It has been over eight years since Campbell last won a tournament but in the last six months there are signs he is emerging from a prolonged slump.

Since the start of June, he has missed only three cuts in 13 starts and has registered five top-25 finishes.

The 2009 Masters runner-up was actually our selection for this event last year and although he missed the cut, he was only one shot shy of making the weekend.

His best finished at the event was a T26 in 2012 and he arrives in much better form. He finished T8 at the Shriners and T29 at the CIMB Classic, an excellent warm-up because it is one of only two other tournaments played on paspalum greens.

The wind coming off the Atlantic Ocean shouldn’t be an issue for Campbell who grew up playing golf in Texas and won’t be fazed by tough conditions. At 80/1 (Paddy Power) he is a cracking each-way bet with 1/5 odds for a top-7 finish.
