Genesis Open Tip: Paul Casey

Struggles to win but has 8 top-10 finishes in his last 13 starts and runner-up at Riviera in 2015.

You have to go back to the KLM Open in 2014 to find Paul Casey’s last win but there is enough in his price to make him an each-way play in this field. The Englishman has resurrected his career in the last couple of years, he’s back in the world’s top-20 and all that is missing is a win.

There is a danger that he’s forgotten how to get over the line but he should be given credit for a sparkling run of form. Since the US Open last year he’s finished 5-11-5-13-5-4-33-5-7-19-11-9-8 pretty much contending everywhere he’s played. His nine top-10 finishes in 2017 was his fifth best return in 17 years as a professional.

The 40-year-old finished runner-up at Riviera in 2015 and it’s a course that suits his elite-level ball-striking. It’s going to be a tough event to win but with 7 places (1/5 odds) we have a good chance of getting a return at 28/1.
