Genesis Open Tip: Harold Varner III

Is 3/4 in cuts made at Riviera but much of this experience gained when a lesser golfer. Arrives in form with six top-20 finishes from last nine starts. Ranked 17th for adjusted scoring average.

It doesn’t seem that long ago that Harold Varner III was winning the Australian PGA (end of 2016) but the American is still yet to win on home soil. Recent results suggest Varner is trending in the right direction because since the start of the wraparound season he’s finished 14-MC-15-6-23-6-18-MC-10.

The statistics back up the results. Varner ranks in the top-60 on tour for strokes gained off-the-tee, tee-to-green and putting which all helps explain why he’s ranked 17th for adjusted scoring average.

His price therefore doesn’t align with the numbers and there is further good news when you throw in course form. The 28-year-old is 3/4 in cuts made at Riviera which include a T70 back in 2014 before he’s even had a full season on the Web.com Tour.

The competition is stiff but the price is to appealing to turn down.
