Nordea Masters Tips: Tom Lewis
Came through US Open qualifying on Monday in atrocious conditions and consistency is returning to his game.
On Monday I was fortunate to find myself at Walton Heath for US Open qualifying and of all the players I followed, Tom Lewis impressed me the most.
A terrific ball striker and a dogged competitor, it was easy to see why he was crowned European Tour Rookie of the Year in 2011.
After an electric start to his professional career he suffered a dip in form, but the talent never went away and there have been encouraging signs recently.
Lewis has made the cut in his last four tournaments, finishing T24-T40-T15-T46 and he came through US Open qualifying to earn a place at Pinehurst. Considering his late tee-time, he played in the worst of the weather, his final score of four-under deserves an upgrade.
The 23-year-old looks ready to add to his Portugal Masters title and is a cracking each-way bet at 90/1 (Bet365) with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
