News Sentinel Open Tips: Kyle Thompson

Endured a horrendous run of form in 2012 and 2013 but a T4 finish at the Nova Scotia Open has released all the pressure as he rediscovers his game.

Kyle Thompson’s career provides a sobering thought for anyone who thinks elite sport is all about big trophies and even bigger cheques.

Having gained promotion to the PGA Tour in 2012 his game deserted him. Thompson started the season with 15 consecutive missed cuts and didn’t bag his first cheque until late July.

That season clearly took its toll because in 2013 he only made one cut on the Web.com Tour, finishing T75 at the Midwest Classic.

Normally that kind of form would make him impossible to back but a recent T4 finish at the Nova Scotia Open has reignited his game.

In his last five starts he’s finished T4-MC-T24-T25-T54 and has broken 70 twelve times in just 18 rounds.

It is worth noting at this point that Thompson is a 3-time winner on the Web.com Tour and is rediscovering his natural level of form, rather than enjoying a purple patch.

At 150/1 (BetVictor) he can provide us with a healthy profit as well as a feel-good story.
