Oman Open Tip: Pablo Larrazabal

Finished T6 and T20 in much stronger events on the recent Desert Swing. Creative shot-maker who won't mind the wind or the link-style test on the shoreline. Finished T44 here last year.

The Al Mouj course should provide a good test this week. It is a desert course but by the sea and with a links-style feel it plays to the shot-makers in the field. With 20mph winds forecast on Saturday this event could suit the more grizzled veteran who can alter his ball-flight and Pablo Larrazabal fits the bill.

The Spaniard has been relativity quiet for the past couple of seasons but there’s plenty of good form in the right places. Last season he finished T4 in Qatar (desert / wind / links-style course) and T11 at the KLM Open (wind / links-style course) so he should enjoy himself in Oman. More recently he finished T6 in Abu Dhabi and T20 in Dubai amongst a much stronger field.

Larrazabal also has the advantage of having played at Al Mouj when finishing T44 last year. Four valuable rounds of experience without course form torpedoing his price. With so much in his favoru he is a cracking bet at 60/1 with Betfair paying 7 places.
