Malaysian Open Tips: Danny Willett

Has three top-10s in Malaysia and has started the season in fine form.

Danny Willett is a player who ticks all the obvious boxes. He’s gone 1-T4-T57-T13 on his last four starts and his record in Kuala Lumpur is 6-T17-T3-T5.

Normally that wouldn’t leave much fat in the market but in a field lacking strength in depth the best players come to the fore.

In the last five years 18 top-50 players have competed at the Malaysian Open, seven of them have finished in the top-5.

In percentage terms these players land a top-5 finish 39% of the time. At 16/1 (Bet365) an each-way payout on Danny Willett is expected 20% of the time.

Yes, I have ignored the win part of the bet and potential ties for fifth place but it illustrates the best players tend to do better than expected in Malaysia.
