Bourdy At Home In Malaysia

Bourdy At Home In Malaysia

Has a good record in Asia and especially at the Malaysian Open. Arrives in good form after three solid results in the Desert Swing.

The European Tour moves to Kuala Lumpur this week for the Maybank Championship Malaysia, registered as a new tournament it is actually just a rebrand of the old Malaysian Open. The biggest change is the venue, with Royal Selangor GC taking over hosting duties.

It’s likely the par-71 will play like its predecessor and the key could be finding players who have a good record in Asia.

Gregory Bourdy had four top-20 finishes at the Malaysian Open and his form generally travels well. The Frenchman enjoyed a product Desert Swing with finishes of T54-T13-T36 and his tee-to-green game is rock solid.

Last season he ranked in the top-20 for driving accuracy and GIRs and is heading in the same direction in 2016.

Bourdy’s two best results (in terms of ranking points) came at the Hong Kong Open in 2009 and the 2011 Malaysian Open. The humid conditions are no problem for the Frenchman and his experience could prove telling at a new venue.  At 50/1 (Bet365) he is a solid each-way bet.
