Made In Denmark Tip: Ashley Chesters

Conditions are set to be cold, wet and windy but that won't both Chesters. Excellent tee-to-green and doesn't make many mistakes. If pars are more valuable than normal he will do well.

There are a couple of notable changes to the Made In Denmark this year. Firstly it returns to Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort and secondly it moves from late August in the schedule to late May. The weather could have a big role to play and the forecast in Farsø is not appealing. Temperatures in the low teens, combined with wind and rain could make this week a grind and that improves the chances of Ashley Chesters.

The Englishman’s game is built around fairways and greens and although not the longest on tour he rarely makes mistakes hence why his best finish on the European Tour came at Valderrama last year.

Chesters is enjoying another solid season with three top-25s this calendar year and he arrives on the back of three good results (25-38-42). Most recently he was well placed going into the weekend of the British Masters before treading water, admittedly a common theme for a player who doesn’t hole enough putts.

His record at the Made In Denmark is an encouraging T31-T9 and although last year’s result came at a different course it is still a positive that he plays good golf in this part of the world.
