Mullinax Must Win Soon
Finished T4 in Colombia and should take apart the par-5s this week. Top-5 for driving distance and par-5 scoring last year.
Trey Mullinax gave us a massive scare when he went close to winning the Colombia Championship, eventually finishing T4.
I erroneously thought the South American venues would be too fiddly for him but it just shows what a class player he is becoming. The lesson is obvious – keep backing him until he wins.
The Louisiana Open is the first tournament I earmarked him for because past winners have all ranked inside the top-70 for par-5 scoring. There are four of them on the card despite Le Triomphe being a par-71.
Last season Mullinax ranked third for driving distance and fourth for par-5 scoring average. Although this is his first look at the course it should suit and he is an excellent bet at 35/1 (Bet365).
