Louisiana Open Tips: Abraham Ancer

Louisiana Open Tips: Abraham Ancer

Finished T15 last year, started the season strongly and is 11th in bogey avoidance.

It’s hard to know what the Web.com Tour players have been doing during the hiatus after the South American swing but according to his Twitter feed, Abraham Ancer has planned ahead. He arrived in Louisiana on Sunday and hopefully the lengthy preparation will payoff.

The 26-year-old failed in his bid to get into the WGC Mexico Championship as the highest ranked Mexican but a strong start to the season bodes well for the remainder of his Web.com campaign. So far, he has finished 5-24-MC-4 and he is looking to build on last year’s T14 at Le Triomphe GC.

One of the more accurate players, Ancer excels on difficult courses and his speciality is bogey avoidance (currently 11th on tour). Last year’s top-5 at the Louisiana Open contained three players who ranked in the top-10 on tour for bogey avoidance and the trend is likely to continue.

Ancer is statically a good fit for this event, has course form and is playing well. At 40/1 he is a solid selection.
