Louisiana Open Tip: Charlie Saxon

Second highest ranked player in field and not done much wrong this season. Better than T34 in Colombia suggests; in contention but faded on Sunday. Sits 12th in all-around ranking.

Currently the best player on the Web.com Tour is Tyler McCumber, that isn’t just my humble opinion, he is joint favourite for the Louisiana Open and the highest ranked golfer in the field. The second best player on the Web.com Tour is Charlie Saxon, that is just my opinion but again he is the second highest ranked golfer in the field - however, he is way down in the betting at 100/1.

And it’s hard to understand why.

So far this season the young American has finished 32-33-34-MC-17-MC. Both those missed cuts came on the number, with the most recent on the European Tour at the Qatar Masters. It is also worth noting that his T34 at the Country Club de Bogota Championship was a result of a horror Sunday. When in contention entering the final round he went out in 42 strokes and tumbled from a certain top-10 to a mid-pack finish.

Saxon will have learned from the experience, in the attempt to win he gambled and lost but he will be better for it. This is a player who has won 7 times in 70 starts, he should add to the tally this season so get him early before his price collapses.
