Lincoln Land Championship Tips: Ben Silverman

Finished T39 last year but was comfortably inside the top-10 heading into Sunday. Finished T8 at Rust-Oleum a fortnight ago.

Ben Silverman threw in a real mixed bag last week in Wichita at the Air Capital Classic, missing the cut despite firing five birdies on Friday. That slightly tempers enthusiasm at Springfield this week but i’m willing to give him a second chance.

It was only a fortnight ago that he recorded his best result of the season (T8) at the Rust-Oleum Championship and the Canadian has been on an upwards trajectory since gaining his card at Q-School.

The 29-year-old is solid throughout the bag and also has valuable course experience. Last season he was seventh going into the final round and although he shot a wretched 74 on Sunday he will have learnt plenty from the experience. Don’t expect him to make the same mistakes if in contention this time round.

This is a course Silverman likes, he opened with a 64 last year and last week’s missed cut only helps push out his price.
