KLM Open Tips: Callum Shinkwin
One of the best tee-to-green on tour, ranking in the top-25 for driving distance, accuracy and GIRs.
Callum Shinkwin has enjoyed a tremendous debut on the European Tour, sat 69th in the Race To Dubai he is virtually assured of his tour card and can now set his sights slightly higher for the remainder of the season.
Top-10s at the Open de France and Scottish Open prove that he can hold his own at this level and a breakthrough win wouldn’t be a total surprise.
Tee-to-green Shinkwin is one of the best on tour. He ranks in the top-25 for driving distance, accuracy and GIRs, it’s only the putter that is holding him back. That again was the story at the European Masters where he ranked third in driving accuracy and 11th for GIRs but 65th in putts per round.
If the 23-year-old can tighten up his game on and around the greens he could threaten a win because his ball-striking is up there with the best. At 80/1 (Stan James) he is an exciting each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
