John Deere Classic Tips: Brian Harman

His relatively poor driving won’t be punished and he’ll create plenty of opportunities with accurate approach play.

One of the great things about the John Deere Classic is how little it has changed over the years. The course hasn’t been lengthened or altered and the winning score is always around the 20-under mark.

This is excellent news for Brian Harman because TPC Deere Run is one of the few courses that won’t punish his deficiencies off the tee.

The 27-year-old is currently ranked 139th for total driving but that doesn’t matter on a course where fairways and greens are easy to find.

The tournament will be won on and around the greens and here is where Harman excels. His putting and scrambling stats are in the top-50 on tour and his iron play can be devastating.

Harman ranks 5th in proximity to the hole with his approach shots and if his irons are dialled in this week he could go well at 100/1 (William Hill)
