Joburg Open: Romain Langasque

Has come out of late summer slump with top-35 finishes in last four starts. Putting competitions in Dubai and Portugal didn't play to his strengths but this South African swing does.

The new DP World Tour starts in slightly low key-fashion with the Joburg Open. As to be expected it’s a tournament heavily populated by South Africans but with a smattering of Challenge Tour graduates to make things interesting. Romain Langasque doesn’t fit into either category but having finished runner up in the South African Open and Kenya Open he must travel with a huge sense of optimism about his chances.

After a quiet summer Langasque in back in-form with four top-35 finishes in his last four starts. especially encouraging as the birdie-fests of the Portugal Master and Dubai Championship didn’t play to his strengths.

A terrific driver of the ball, he’s ranked inside the top-11 for strokes gained off the tee in his last three starts and it his putting where he has been losing strokes to the field. The next three weeks in South Africa promise to be favour the elite ball-strikers and in truth I could happily back him each week and be fairly confident i’d finish the swing in profit.
