Irish Open Tips: James Morrison
Has registered good results in strong events. Won the Spanish Open last year and T4 at Valderrama recently.
After a couple of low-key events the European Tour ramps up with the Irish Open. Held at the K Club for the first time there is precious little form to go on, it might seem old-fashioned but the only way to play this tournament is looking for overpriced players.
Past champions had a touch of class and I firmly believe James Morrison has another big win in him.
After a couple of years in the doldrums the Englishman regained his best form in 2015. He finished the season in the top-30 of the Race To Dubai and won the Open de Espana as well as finishing second at the Open de France.
The 31-year-old is fitter then ever before and is swinging well as evidenced by his T4 finish at Valderrama on a demanding layout.
Last year he finished T11 at the BMW PGA proving he can compete in a stellar field. He obviously warrants interest at Wentworth in a week’s time but he’s worth keeping onside at 175/1 (Bet365) in case he peaks earlier than predicted.
