Irish Open Tips: Alvaro Quiros

Has played the Irish Open twice, finishing in the top-10 both times. Now injury free, he looks back to his best.

The Irish Open returns to Fota Island Resort for the first time since 2002 and although course form is thin on the ground, Alvaro Quiros has played well wherever the tournament resides.

The Spaniard finished T5 last year and T8 in 2008 and now injury free, he looks back to his best.

Ranked 9th for driving distance and 10th for GIRs there should be plenty of birdie chances this week for Quiros, he just needs the putter to get hot.

He passed up a winning opportunity at the Nordea Masters eventually finishing T6, his third top-10 of the season, but that will only spur him on.

The 31-year-old is a prolific winner on tour, with six titles to his name and it shouldn’t be long before he adds to the list.

At 33/1 (Stan James) he is a good each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
