Irish Open Tip: Paul Dunne

Irish Open Tip: Paul Dunne

Move to Portstewart GC ideal because Dunne plays links golf particularly well. Led the Open and good record at the Dunhill Links

No one fired a better closing round at Le Golf National than Paul Dunne’s Sunday 65 and although he has perhaps played his hand a bit early, he is a fair bet to win his national Open.

The Irishman has been playing some good golf for a while. He lost in a playoff at the Trophee Hassan and finished T30 at Wentworth, before coming through US Open Qualifying at Walton Heath on the following Monday.

Playing in front of a partisan crowd will be an advantage this week but so will the move to Portstewart GC. Described as a ‘hidden jem’ it is a links course in Londonderry and that will suit Dunne.

He famously led the Open after 54-holes at St. Andrews and has two top-25 finishes in two starts at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. This sort of golf suits him and he could be set for a big week. Place a bet with Betfred and get 6 places at 1/4 odds.
