Indian Open Tips: Jyoti Randhawa

Indian Open Tips: Jyoti Randhawa

Has two top-20s at this week’s venue and is a five-time winner in India. Was runner-up at the Panasonic Open in December at Delhi GC.

The last two Indian Opens have gone to home players and it could be three in a row this week. The venue might be different but that will favour some players like Jyoti Randhawa.

The 44-year-old finished T8 at the 2008 Johnnie Walker Classic and T18 at the 2010 Avantha Masters both at DLF Golf and Country Club, although this week they play the new Gary Player course (opened in 2015). In fact, his record in India is quietly impressive. He finished T2 at the Panasonic Open (India) at the end of 2016, an improvement on his T4 in 2015.

It seems Randhawa is inspired by home support because five of his eight Asian Tour wins have come in India. It’s been a while since his last win (2009) and he’s not started 2017 particularly well but on a course he knows better than most, he shouldn’t be discounted at 175/1 (Stan James).
