Indian Open: Romain Langasque

Indian Open: Romain Langasque

Top-20s on his last two starts but hasn’t made anything on the greens. Getting ever nearer to cracking the top-10 and potentially winning.

The Hero Indian Open moves venue this week to the Gary Player course at DLF Golf and Country Club in New Delhi. Stretching 7,657-yards it offers a different test to the tree-lined Delhi GC we used to enjoy, which measured a mere 6,983-yards.

DLF G&CC is not a completely new experience, it hosted the Johnnie Walker Classic (2008), the Indian Open (2009) and Avantha Masters (2010). Unfortunately, there is no identikit winner from those events, in fact they tell us very little.

With that in mind and the weak field on offer, I’m going with in-form talent and that leads me to Romain Langasque. The 2015 Amateur Champion has been super consistent in the professional ranks, working his way up through the Challenge Tour to the European Tour. So far, this year he’s finished 21-39-37-11-18 and is getting closer as the opposition has gets weaker.

Last week a second round 74 derailed his challeng, whilst at the Joburg Open his chances were compromised by the weather delay. There is no doubting the Frenchman’s talent and having ranked 8th for GIRs last week, he just needs a reasonable four rounds with the putter to contend at 33/1 (Sky Bet).
