CareerBuilder Challenge Tips: Trey Mullinax

CareerBuilder Challenge Tips: Trey Mullinax

Ranked 52nd in strokes gained putting and recent scores suggest game is coming to the boil.

At the start of the wraparound season I christened Trey Mullinax as Smylie Kaufman v2.0 and considering Kaufman finished T14 here last year I can continue with my pet project for 2017.

Trey Mullinax was one of the stars of the Web.com Tour last season and he has the tools to succeed at a higher level. He’s a terrific putter and hits the ball a mile and a shoot-out in the desert will suit him.

The 24-year-old is 4/6 in cuts made this season and he’s regularly shot in the 60s, without quite stringing it together in four consecutive rounds. It’s still early days but the signs are encouraging. Mullinax is ranked 11th in driving distance (no shock there) but 52nd in strokes gained putting and 74th in par-4 scoring.

That is a decent set of numbers with plenty of upside to come, if his exploits on the Web.com were anything to go by, we’ve got a good bet at 250/1 (Betfred).
