Hong Kong Open Tips: Anirban Lahiri
Has four top-10s in his last six tournaments and Scott Hend proved long hitters can win at Fanling.
The Hong Kong Open has traditionally been a course that favours the more modest hitters but Scott Hend completely turned that on its head, winning last year with a driving average of 321 yards.
It proved that bombers can win at Fanling and that might give confidence to the likes of Anirban Lahiri.
The Indian golfer has enjoyed a fantastic year and couldn’t arrive in much better form.
Since his top-30 at the Open he has finished 5-T53-T5-T6-T16-T2 on a variety of tours, with a second place last week at the Macao Open.
Lahiri’s best finish at Fanling was a T12 in 2013 when he ranked fifth for driving distance and 8th for GIRs but struggled on the greens.
He is by no means a bad putter (43rd on tour in putts per GIR) and with his distance he could go well at 25/1 (Bet365) this week.
