Grab A Piercy Of The Action At Honda
Has made his last 9 cuts, with 6 top-20s amongst them. Is 4/6 in cuts made at PGA National including a T17 last year. Tee-to-green game is in excellent shape.
Twelve months ago I tipped Scott Piercy to win the Honda Classic and i’m making almost the exact same argument again. This time round he is a best price 55/1, rather than 80/1 but arguably could be a lot shorter.
His form leading into the Honda is much better, he’s made his last nine cuts and has six top-20s during that time including a recent T10 at Pebble Beach. His record at PGA National is also better. He has made 4/6 cuts at the course, with a best T5 on debut and a T17 last year.
Tee-to-green his game is in excellent shape and he is ranked 16th on tour for GIRs. Making putts is the issue but this week is as much about avoiding mistakes on a difficult course.
Piercy hasn’t won an individual event since 2015 but he did team up with Billy Horschel to win the Zurich Classic last season so he’s got recent memories of entering the winner’s circle. I’m backing him to do so again.
