Farmers Insurance Open Tips: Tony Finau
This is tougher than his other early season events but he has the power to thrive on a long course.
No debutant has ever won the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines but Tony Finau is a golfer who breaks the mould.
A prodigiously long hitter, he currently ranks second for driving distance and won’t be overawed by the monstrously long Torrey Pines South course. However, the Web.com graduate isn’t just a bomber.
Finau currently ranks 25th in the PGA Tour’s all-around ranking and has played well on a variety of courses.
Last week he finished T22, his fifth top-25 in just eight starts and he shot an encouraging second round 68 in the worst of the conditions.
After the early season hype Finau has drifted out to a backable price. At 125/1 (Bet365) he rates a good each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
